Hey all,
I’ve been in touch with Michael, and I inserted two of his emails below. It looks like, without health insurance, he’s going to owe at least $5000. He’s applied for a heathcare credit card and he has some other available credit, but he’s still short the money he needs to have his leg surgically repaired on Tuesday.
If you want to help, a paypal donation can be made. Michael will be applying all of the funds received to cover his growing medical bills. I’m donating as soon as I get this post published and an email sent out – I know how easily this could happen to any of us, and I know that any help he receives he will be forever grateful for. Any amount helps; even small amounts add up and can definitely help him.
Thanks in advance for any love, prayers, and donations sent to Michael.

Rachel

Thanks so much for your concern and for the support of everyone in MNU, it means a lot and I appreciate it.  Last night was a bad night for me.  Turns out that the dislocated ankle cause my leg to break.  I have a spiral fracture in my fibula( the smaller, outside bone) that broke completely through.  Also, a small piece of bone broke free from my tibia because the ligament that it was attached to pulled it off when the ankle dislocated.
Tomorrow I go into surgery at 3pm to reattach the ligaments that got severed and to get a cast on my leg.  I can’t believe how bad the accident was, I’ve never broken anything like this before.  Right now I’m doing fine though, I have a temporary cast with my foot prop up, and lots of hydrocodine 🙂
Unfortunately, I have no insurance, and so I have to pay out of pocket for the ambulance, ER, and orthopedic surgery.   Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to wait tables at Pappasitos anymore either since I’ll be in a cast for several months.
Looks like I got a lot to figure out in the next few weeks.   I have a finance degree though, so hopefully I can find some kind of desk job where I don’t have to walk.   In the mean time, however, I am definitely facing a financial dilemma and I am not sure how I will be able to cover all my expenses while I’m out of a job.
Any money that MNU could raise would be a HUGE relief to me.   I would like you to thank everyone from MNU last night for their generosity and concern.  It means a lot to know that yall care.  I will definitely let you know how the surgery goes tomorrow.

I talked to the financial assistance department at the hospital and there gonna see what they can do to help me.  Hopefully I won’t have to pay for the majoirty of the hosiptal expenses.
I do however have to pay the surgeon for the surgery.  The cost is $5,225, and i have to come up with half of it as a down payment before the surgery.   I applied for carecredit, a medical credit card, but only got approved for $1,500.   They want me to come up with another $1,000 or so before Tuesday.  I have a little credit limit left on another credit card, but anything yall could donate would be a great help!
I set up a Paypal account.  My username is my email:  txstatemike84@yahoo.com.   Michael Arnold.    Thanks for your help and for spreading the word.
Thanks again!

With all this rain, there’s a chance the fields might not be open. If you are at all concerned, please check with Whitaker fields before leaving home. 512.452.2235
